So... does this site take money these days or what?

Hi there, long time no see.

I've never had anything to do with the monetisation on this site so I'm afraid I don't know.

Happy Birthday by the way.

I ended up finding a work-around, and they said they were looking into it, but I never heard back. *shrug*

Oh yeah--Thanks lol

Project Aurora has finally surfaced: futurism.com/lockheed-confirms…

...though this really shouldn't be too much of a surprise at this point.
I remember when they first said they were developing the SR-72 a few years ago. It sounded like a publicity stunt more than anything at the time, and with a name like SR-72, clearly meant to capture the imagination of SR-71 fans, it still does.

I did also hear years ago from a Sci-Tech magazine (don't know which one) about the HTV-3X Blackswift Mach 6 bomber proposal. It was said that a Mach 6 aircraft would be practical in the near future as current materials would be able to withstand the friction of those speeds provided the aircraft forgo stealth capabilities (which should be much less necessary for such an aircraft anyway due to speed being its main defence).

I see the SR-72 making more sense as a rapid deep-penetrating strike aircraft than a spy plane. The ability for stealthy drones to loiter unseen over a target for long periods of time seems more useful, whereas a quick in-and-out only gives you a snapshot of what's happening.
With all the speculative, tabloid-esque "News" out there (and the alarming shortage of any real objective fact-based coverage of anything at all) I'll be surprised if there's anything called an "SR-72" at all. That being said, I do think it's reasonable to believe the USAF has and is developing a hypersonic waverider craft similar to my Meteor design (albeit MUCH more compact and likely unmanned) that is capable of acting as an "under-the-radar" ICBM-type weapon delivery system. Because it won't necessarily require the same kind of infrared-blasting boost required by an ICBM to get where it's going, it's a LOT less likely to trigger an ICBM launch alert from a NORAD-type system when it's deployed and can hit the target a mere ten minutes slower than an ICBM could. It can probably evade all kinds of treaties because it technically may never make it into space. This sort of thing, if developed correctly, can and likely will be much faster than Mach 10.

It's rumored the Air Force facility I live just a few miles from is administering the project, and the actual testing is happening out west and over the Pacific off the coast of California. But those reports are almost a decade old now, I think. The damned thing is probably already combat-capable.
Not sure if I can stick to it, but I'm going to make it a goal this weekend to get to each and every one of your edit suggestions I've backlogged since about this time last year.
